The application process is for certificate holders, professionals and technicians who want to settle in Canada permanently and participate in our economy. Express Visa/Express Entry is an online system we use to manage immigration applications submitted by degree holders, professionals and technicians.

Canadian Experienced Category

The Canadian Experience category is for skilled workers with Canadian work experience who wish to become permanent residents and must meet all minimum eligibility requirements listed below.

Professional work experience within Canada.
English or French language level.
You must have at least one year of work experience in Canada (or equivalent part-time work experience) in the three years before applying.
You gained your work experience by working in Canada while allowing you to work under temporary resident status.
Prove that you have performed the duties listed in the main statement of the occupational description in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
Your work experience should be paid work, including paid wages or commissions earned. Volunteer work or unpaid internships are not counted..

Federal Program for Professionals (Express Visa / Express Entry Program)

The Federal Skilled Worker Program is for skilled workers with work experience who wish to become permanent residents. To be eligible, you must meet all of the following minimum requirements listed below, If you meet the minimum requirements, we will evaluate your application based on additional selection factors.

Work Experience

You must prove that while working in your primary occupation, you have performed the duties set out in the main statement of the occupational description. This includes all the basic duties and most of the main duties mentioned.
You must have work experience.
Be in the same type of job as the job you want to use for your immigration application (labeled your primary occupation).
Acquired within the last ten years, in Canada or abroad.
Be paid work (you must have received paid pay or commission earned – volunteer work or unpaid training is not counted).
Have at least one year of continuous work or a total of 1560 hours (30 hours per week).

Part-time work experience

Your skilled work experience must be paid including paid wages or commissions earned. Volunteer work or unpaid internships are not counted. For part-time work, you can work more or less than 15 hours a week as long as that is up to 1560 hours. You can work more than one part-time job to get the hours you need to apply. If you meet all the minimum requirements, we will assess your eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker Program based on,

Adaptability (how likely you are to settle here).

Based on how well you succeed in each of the six factors, we’ll give you an overall score out of 100. The current passing mark is 67 points.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Federal Professionals Program is for professional workers who wish to become permanent residents based on their qualifications in skilled trade. To be eligible, you must meet all your minimum requirements listed below

Practical experience
English or French language level
You must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within 5 years before applying.
Meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

Job offer or qualification certificate

You must have a valid job offer for full-time employment for a total period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in your skilled profession issued by a Canadian regional, regional or federal authority Certificate of qualification.

The qualification certificate proves that you are qualified to work in a certain skilled occupation in Canada. This means that you have passed the certification exam.
Meet all requirements to practice your trade in the province or territory that issued your
certificate This certificate is issued by the regional or regional body governing trade in its province or territory, or
a federal authority.
Depending on the body or authority that issues it, this certificate can be called a “certificate of qualification” or “certificate of qualification.

To obtain certification, a regional, provincial, or federal authority must evaluate your training, business experience, and skills to determine if you qualify to write a certification test.

Get an assessment by the province or territory

Each province and territory has its own certification process for qualification requirements, and you may have to go to the province or territory to have your trade evaluated by an employer in Canada to provide you with experience and training.
