They must also provide evidence that they will be an asset to Australia in their area of expertise and have no difficulty obtaining work in the country or becoming established in their field. Places are also available for PhD graduates and some PhD students who are close to completing their thesis and can demonstrate exceptional talent and international recognition in their target sector.
The above temporary visas provide a direct route to permanent residency after three years, subject to meeting certain residency, investment or business turnover requirements. The initial visa will be valid for five years.
